The Power of Calendula

Calendula is fast becoming one of my favorite flowers.  Really, there is not much not to like about this little, power-packed posey.

Calendula is a member of the daisy family.  Maybe that is why I like it so much.  I have always loved daisies, they seem so whimsical and carefree.

Calendula packs a lot of power into its little petals, and in 2008, was named the herb of the year by the International Herb Association.  Not only is it edible, but it has been valued for centuries for its medicinal properties.  Most notably, it has been used for dry/chapped skin, inflammation, minor cuts and wounds, and skin issues like eczema and psoriasis [1].   The fresh flowers can be brewed into a tea [2]to help with menstrual cramps [3], and it has even been utilized in toothpaste to promote oral health.

From fighting cancer [3] to help during cancer treatment, the uses of calendula seem endless [4].

We here at the Chosen Weeds have paired the power of calendula with the effectiveness of goat milk to make an incredibly unique soap that we think everyone will enjoy.  Even if you don’t have dry or irritated skin, you can benefit from the healing powers of both goat milk and calendula.  Go ahead and give it a try.
